Shot in Pioneer Park in Utah. This little fella eventually got bold enough to come out and walk away. We looked to see if he had any friends around but apparently he was on his own. Desert Tortoises are endangered and there's a hefty fine for doing them any harm. When I first bumped into him I thought he was a statue. It was quite a shock to come across him. Tortoise can live quite a long time. There's no telling how old he is. He could even be older than I. Quite a lucky find.
